It' s been five day's my since my bernie girl died

It’s been five day’s since our baby girl bernie died. My other dog misty is having a very hard time without her best friend. I’m sure it’s going to a while before she gets adjusted to not seeing Bernie. We are giving her lots of attention, taking her on morning walks, bought her more toys nothing seems to be working. She is not eating much and I’m worried. I

It must be awful having to see your dog with a broken heart. Even dog’s know when something so tragic has happened. If only there was some sort of therapy for dogs, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of such a thing. There have been true stories about dogs who grieve for the loss of family or a friend, like the dog who stayed by his owner’s grave after he died. There should be something done about the stress that even animals have to suffer. Or am I the only one who believes that something COULD be done?

Answer #2

I am sorry for your loss. It will take time, but dogs actually seem to understand better than we think they do. Your dog will have to go through her grieving processes just like you will.

Answer #3

give your dog loads of extra attention, she/he needs it to take its mind off losing her best friend and lots of cuddles

nothing will replace her I know but have you considered getting another dog for a companion for your other dog and you and your family

Really Sorry for your loss x

O I’m so sorry and I send my sympathy to all. Well I have been told that pets sense their owners emotion. So if you or someone else is showing sadness around the dog he/she is going to sad as well. So don’t show your sadness around the dog. Monkey see monkey do. Get it?

my smypathy sweetie.

but in all honesty, your dog needs to have time to grieve. let her be sad and express her sadness.

if she stops eating or drinking then you might need ot take her to the vet to either get supplements, or give her a stimulate to encourage her to eat…

but let her be sad. she misses her friend just as much as you miss your pet…give her time…when my dog died our other dog took about a month to start acting normal again…

good luck sweetie!

I’m sorry to hear that , you have my condolences. However My dog died in april well correction my stupid mother put her to sleep so if you want to be technical we killed her. sorry about my rant . in regards to your question my other dog has not been the same since , he never ever leaves my side and snaps at people who get near me. when I’m not home he takes refuge under my bed and he stays in my room all night I was and still am worried as this is not ordinary behavior for him either.

Awww I am so sorry for your loss my heart goes out to you and your family ! I know the pain of what your going through cause I have been through this aswell my last dog I had for 16 years and it was so horrible when she past away my heart and my families member’s hearts were very broken…even my cat was effected by the emptiness sadness and loss. I know people say Cats are very smart but I have to say I dont care what people think or say I believe dogs are dogs are very inteligent and are more emotional and into tune to feelings, cats are more independent. Your dog likely has a broken heart is very confused and has depression bring Misty to the Vet ! Best of luck, sorry for your loss .
