Is my beta Sick?

My Beta Fish has been sitting at the bottom of the bowl facing up. He’s not too old and I know it’s not time for him to die yet. Is it normal for a fish to do that? He’s never done it before. :(

mmm… okay, well everyone, if he wasn’t moving, I’d know he’s dead and I wouldn’t have asked the question. and he’s not upside down, he’s laying at the bottom facking up… like, his face is up… not upside down… he’s looking at the top of the bowl apparently… ^_^ but I’m kinda worried about him!!! and if you know me, I’m obsessed, so because of his name, I REALLY REALLY REALLY can’t have him dead… :(

Answer #2

if it dont move its dead.

Answer #3

Mine does that, but not upside down. Maybe something is wrong with it? You can’t really take it in to the vet..cause they don’t specialize in fish.

Answer #4

mine did that and died but my had a infection froma snail

Answer #5

It’s hard to tell because once I thought mine was dead then I flicked the bowl and it started moving again…

poor beta I was cleaning the bowl and it fell down the sink :(

Answer #8

It’s not normal for a fish to do that. Facing up? Try sticking a little fishie net down there and poking him. If he doesn’t move, then something is DEFINATELY not right. If he were dead, then he would be floating. I’ve had several beta fish before, and none of them ever did anything like that. They can last about 2 years. We had a red one named Gordon who lived for about 2 years. He had a little personality to him, as all pet fish do. I’ll stop rambling now and start answering another question. Hope it turns out ok, as they make nice pets.

Answer #9

Your betta could be ill. how often do you clean your tank? If you use the tap water , do you use a water conditioner or betta tables before adding your betta. Also the temp of the water could effect the betta. The temp should arrange from 75F to 82F. Visit the www.bettatalk.com. This website will show how to clean your tank and the meds you can give to your betta. I hope this helps!!!

so sorry :’( well, mine is gone too now, unfortunately. but my dad went to take them to the fish shop and they said all that was wrong with him is that he’s an old man. and that he lived longer than most fish.. :(
