How to get the Internet Connection button back on my laptop?

so I have a dell laptop and I used to go on wireless by clicking start and there would be a connect button. But all of a sudden its not there anymore and I tried everything else to try to get on the internet. How can I get the connect button back?

There’s no need to take your laptop to be repaired - its not broken like that, and it would be an unnecessary spending of money.

Somehow the option for displaying the connect button has disappeared. So, if you want it back (assuming you are using Windows XP, but if you’re using another Windows it should pretty much be the same), do the following:

  • Right-click on the Start Bar
  • Click on Properties
  • Click on the highlighted Customize button
  • At the top of the new window, there should be two tabs - General, and Advanced. Click on Advanced.
  • In the middle box labelled Start Menu Items, scroll down until you see Network Connections
  • The little button should be currently set to Don’t Display This Item. Click Display as Connect Menu, and then press OK at the bottom of the window
  • Click Apply, then click OK

The Connect Button on the Start Bar should now be back. If it works, or doesn’t, let us know!
