-well the south said if he wuz elected they would succeed -he was republican? -he was never for or against slavery he just wanted to perserve the union wethier it was with or without slavery he didnt care -was he from indiania? ummm thatz all i can think of sorry

I think the most interesting part is the series of 7 (yes, seven) debates between Lincoln and Douglas that took place in 1858. All debates were about slavery, but the interesting part is each candidate spoke for 90 minutes each, sometimes in the bitter cold.
