they clamp your lip, stick a hollow surgical steel needle through and then thread the jewelrey through the needle the whole process last for a minute tops and the pain doesnt last long it depends on your pain tolerance though swelling of your lip is normla and it will swell up to about twice the size on the side you got it done the swelling should go down within 3 days then you just need to leave it in for at least 3 months so it can heal so dont attempt to take it out or change it before then another thing if your school has a dress code they wont allow it most jobs consider facial peircings unprofesional and unattractive and if your under 16-18 (depending on your country) youll need to bring an adault with you to consent to it

the pain last like a second rember that it doesnt last forever. it might be a lil sore but thats about it, and sence it doesnt really bother you, it shouldnt be a problem get it!
