I've figured out im good at jong jump, how can I improve?

I recintly found out that I’m good at long jump, I’m 14 and the highest I’ve jumped is 3.87meters, and on average im jumping about 3.50 each time, if not better. I know thats not very far, but with help (and I want it, I can get better) I was wondering what kind of things I can do to improve the height as I go off the board, how to get that speed from the sprint into that oompf for the jump.. can any of you guys help me? cheers, I’ve got a sports thing on tuesday and im doing longjump, so any help is real appreciated! cheers

Before you start sprinting sorta bounce your back foot then sprint it helps to get off quicker. Also try to, I know it sounds weird, but if your doing long try to air hump the air and launch yourself at a 45 degree angle. Also make sure your form is straight and that you land with your feet together and the same for your arms keep em sycronised.

You want to jump UP as far as you can, like you’r reaching for something above you as you’re jumping. What my coach did for me was hold something above where I’m jumping. (*Like a bag tied to a pole) and you want to reach for it. This makes you jump farther because the momentum of jumping so high pushes you further. Also you want to run as fast as you can, it really helps if you’re a good sprinter. Basically to help you get muscle in your calf muscles and upper thigh muscles you can do box squats, squats, or anything that you think will help with gaining muscle in your calf. If you need more detail about anything just message me.

mainly if you want to be able to jump really high it needs to be in your genetics. I am 15 I stand 5 foot 6 inches and I come 1 inch from dunking on a ten foot basketball net. if you desperatly want to jump high, jump rop or run on your toes, squats help also and jumping consistantly as high as you can for long periods of time non-stop ism the best way to gain a higher jump

Answer #5

ok I a long jumper to and I 12. your right it not that far but I have been long jumping for 3 years now. and the only way I improve is by getting faster and stronger. so its not really a quick process, you just have to wait. well I do. and by the way my furthest jump is 4.54 metrs
