how to get my 4yr old to use the toilet..
ladies, I’ve a 4 yr old boy and he has no problem peeing in the toilet but he refuses to poo in one.he holds his poo so much that he gets a stool softener to help he go …when he needs to go he insists on a nappy and when the pressure to go builds up he can still manage to cross his legs and tighten his bum muscles it’s amazing and heart breaking ,finally if he hasn’t gone in few days due to him holding it I have to sit him around my waist and open his legs and push down(during which he’s still trying to tighten the muscles)he finally lets out a yell and its out ( the kinda yell we’d given on our final push during labour)..please anyone help my and my husband heart is broken from watching him I can only imagine what he feels… Mel.

well my mom always says if you hold it in to long your butox will explobe but she user the word bottom to my 4 yr old sister
not all kids like toilet try usin a potty make it his friend .. maybe try even bribein him by offerin a sweet or new toy if hes a good boy and uses the toliet .. make it fun and exciting sum times you need to.. or it will cause future problems .. good luck
p.s my nephew went frew a similar thing sept he was doin his busniss out in the garden … lol
Maybe you should talk to the doctor… sorry I now that’s not a lot of help but it is possible that there is actually something wrong with him that causes him pain to go poo… nothing serious, I’m sure, but still it might be a good idea. Or you could try talking to your 4 yr. old, maybe ask him straighforwardly if there is a reason why he doesn’t want to poo in the toilet. Good Luck!
