HOW should I tell my parents that I am a practicing wiccan?

k I know already that I am going to tell them but I am looking for ideas on HOW. Also when do yuo think would be the best time to tell them? a few of my friends said that I should tell them just before company comes over so they can’t yell at me for long (I don’t know about that). okay so if anyone has any ideas please post them. oh and please don’t say things like “ magic isn’t real” or “turn away from the darkness” or” your not a real wiccan”. just give a nice response.

Like a friend of mine always says, “There’s no such thing as a perfect moment.”

Just show them that you’re the same person, do a little extra around, and break it to them when you’re ready. Mostly, it’s getting past yourself.

But, come back to the light, young one. Lol.

well first off , you need to display what POSITIVE effects wicca has had in your life, maybe begin with a theological discussion, and slowly come towards the wiccan aspect of things.

the best thing to do is research the subject so that you can display a knowledgeable point of view- describe where their beliefs fell short of yours, but be respectful and calm, if the yelling starts - remain calm and don’t join in on it.

it is going to be tough, but the cross over will be worth it, but their attacks most likely will continue to try and “make you see the light”. I ahve let my family know my beliefs by taking a stubborn stance- and pointing out that there are a lot worse things that I could be- since I have been wiccan, I have become sober, I have become a better person around those who will not judge me- but I have also been willing to defend my beliefs and shoot down the other religions when the need has arisen.

I don’t like the company idea. maybe let them see your pentagram necklace- and go from there, let them see wicca is not evil, and if need be point out the similarities between wicca and the organized religions- the organized religions emerged from paganism and witchcraft- point that out and toe the line.

as long as your belief is having a positive effect on your life- I don’t see where they could have too much of a problem with it- unless they are the religous zealot types who will see this as you belonging to “the devil” and being possessed by evil- the fight will be a lot more brutal if that is the case, just be prepared for their reaction- and just don’t get suckered into a shouting match, REMAIN CALM.
