How do you cure an infected peircing?

I’ve got a Nose Ring, And im almost sure its infected. It was professionally peirced a while back, and on friday night I kind of repeirced it. It was fine untill last night, when it kind of swelled up,got red,and now it hurts. theres a bump inside my nose, like around the peircing. you cant tell its infected form the outside. anyways,I’ve been putting rubbing alcohol on it,I heard it would work.

what will cure it faster?

Answer #1

no, alcohol only makes it worst. what alcohol does is irritate it even more. when my nose ring got infected after i re-pierced it, i went back to the tattoo place and they gave me more sea salt. just mix a tea spoon of it with hot water and rub it on the piercing for about 20 seconds 3 times a day. i worked for me. good luck!

Many times salt water will clear up an infection but once i ended up having to have antibiotics to clear my nose piercing infection. The nose is the dirtiest place and i would suggest you see a doctor as the infection can travel up the nose to the brain. Its rare but the risk isn’t worth it. Go to your doctor for treatment and infuture don’t pierce anything yourself. I had the bump inside my nose and eventually it went, its the redness on the outside that is the problem.

Good Luck.

My Lip peircing is infected too I think. It get’s really swollen and there’s a yellow bubble on the inside, but nothing in the outside. I’ve been rinsing with salt walter, and put bactine on it but nothings working):

Answer #5

It depends on the actual severity of the infection. Generally, you can use a topical OTC antibiotic which will help. Alcohol, although a good antiseptic, can irritate a wound, as the above post mentioned. There is a slight risk for sepsis so you should monitor your temp. and if fever persists, or if anything changes, I recommend you seeing a physician for treatment. Best wishes. -S

I had a bump in the inside and I went back to the place I got my piercing and they told me to crush up asprin with a little bit of water to make a past. Put it on the lump a couple of times a day just for 2 minutes(it can burn and irritate the skin if left on to long). The lump started going away after the first day.
