how do you make a dog lose weight

my dog midnight is a schipperke a small dog and is overweight and I cant get her to lose weight she runs in the backyard but doesnt lose weight any advise…

Answer #1

Dogs only need to eat once a day. Not breakfast lunch and dinner. Dogs usually prefer to eat in the morning and cats at night. Get your dog in the habit of eating a small amount in the morning and get exercise throughout the day. NO SCRAP FOODS! Hope it helps!

Answer #2

Take your dog to the veterinarian for a physical. Discuss his health with your veterinarian and come up with a game plan for weight loss. Step 2 Purchase diet dog food. Almost any brand will do fine, but your vet may give you a prescription for special dog food. Buy this initially and eventually transition to a less expensive diet food. Step 3 Follow feeding instructions carefully. Do not overfeed your dog. Step 4 Do not give in to begging. Dogs love to eat, but your dog is not starving. Much to the contrary, he is burning body fat and becoming healthier. Step 5 Take your pooch for a walk, or better yet, a run. It’ll take time for your dog to get in shape so don’t expect him to run a mile if he hasn’t exercised in some time. Ease into your new routine and take it slow. Step 6 Be persistent. Stick to your plan until your dog has achieved the desired results. Step 7 Follow up with your veterinarian after a few months. Re-evaluate your dog’s health, and continue to follow your vet’s instructions.

you have a very cute dog how about feeding it less food each day feed it a lil hand full for breakfast lunch and dinner also make sure your dog is getting enough exercise

hope I helped:)

Answer #4

Feed it less and excersise it more…Not just running around the back yard, but playing games…and walking…it’s a great way to “bond” with your dog, too.
