How do I treat an infected monroe?

I’ve had my monroes pierced for several years, and recently one of them has gotten infected. I thought it would go away in a few days because it has happened before, but it has only gotten worse. It’s been about a week, and this morning when I woke up my mouth was swollen so I decided to take it out. It has been bleeding and has discharge. What do I do to treat this?

Make sure the area is clean, try a warm compress to induce draining, and follow up with peroxide…do this several times a day until it gets better.

I advise against removing the piercing altogether, since it keeps the hole open and allows for draining.
