how do I set my router?

I have a pre-existing wireless internet connection and I bought a wireless router. how do I get my wireless router to pick up my wireless internet?

Answer #1

You probably can’t. Most routers are not designed to act as wireless access points.

However, if you can connect the router to your network through a cable, you can then use it. To do this, you need to either connect it directly to the wireless hub with a cable, or setup a PC with a wireless connection as a bridge to the router. This is a kludgy mess I don’t recommend.

your new router has to be able to actt as an access point not all routers have that optiongo through your manuels and see if it can be used as an access point, if so it will tell you how to set it up to be used that way…but if its being used as an access point it can only receive signals not send it out…
