How do I get a signal from my router?

i have a laptop if i plug the a cable staight into computer from router i don’t get any signal my downstairs computer gets signal from same router it is wire router

Hi,

I’m thinking it must be something with the laptop settings. If your router is working over distance, it’s working correctly…does your laptop have a wireless card or internal wireless card? Make sure it’s wireless connection capability is enabled.
