How do I find a good Bachata Dance partner?

I’m very interested in Bachata for a long time. I’m ready to learn it but there is no partner yet. (everyone is interested in salsa, tango etc) How can I convince my friends to do it, or how can I find a good dancer, any idea??

Answer #1

tell them its fun! Bachata is great, its a lot of fun and easier to learn than salsa! My boyfriend and I did salsa but he really struggled with the music and rhythem so we did bachata and it was really good

Thanks thedude :) Thanks luthien :) I did salsa with my boyfriend, he is mexican, so imagine how good he is at this… But Bachata is became a passion for me. I have watched on youtube thedude :) It helped a lot… I know much about its basic… I only need a partner now to practice. I’m looking for dance studios but mostly Salsa as you can imagine. Let’s keep fingers crossed! :)

There should be local dance studios near where you live…also, you can watch videos on youtube for free to learn the basics. Get some music as well.

From experience (I’d done latin dancing for over a decade, on and off) all over the world (Nepal, Costa Rica, both coasts of the US, Thailand, etc) you’ll find salsa most often, then Merengue, then Bachata / Cumbia.

Less common still would be cha cha, etc.

Good luck with the lessons, feel free to drop me a note if you need more help. I’m intermediate at salsa and merengue, novice at about a half dozen others, despite more than a few lessons.
