How can I get my 4 month old puppy to sleep later?

My pup wants out at 5am but not to pee (she will if I insist) but to bark and play. I don’t talk to her and return her to her kennel but she continues to whine and cry. I just want one more hour.

Answer #1

Just what ty said…quit rewarding the whining behavior. It’ll be tough sleeping thru it the first few days, but well worth it at the end of a week…

Answer #2

I agree with ty. My puppy always wants out around the same time but we ignore her until atleast six, but she stays in the house with us. They are just so full of energy that they want to get out and do things… Perhaps during the day you can do what I do? which is to take her out on long walks… play with her through-out the day… That should tire her out so that she will sleep later… Or give her a toy she can play with when she wakes up…

Answer #3

Stop taking her out. If she learns that she’s not going to get any attention, she’ll stop whining.
