Answer #8

Yes, certain disease can be picked up through breast milk, like for example HIV and other bacterial infections as well. If human breast milk is used in icecream it increases the chances of humans getting certain diseases which cannot be obtained from animal milk.

Answer #9

Depends on who the milk is from and how it was treated.

Cow milk comes in

  • raw milk, freshly tapped out of the cow (illegal to sell in USA, very restricted sale in most European countries) - can carry tuberculosis if it is contaminated with these bacteria.
  • pasteurized milk - has been heated, which kills most bacteria. as well as homogenized and microfiltrated milk.

I think using raw human milk would be more dangerous than raw cow milk. Because there are many possibilities that it will carry disease that affect humans. Using pasteurized, microfiltrated human milk would be mostly harmless.

And, of course if the milk donor is healthy, the milk will be good. If the milk donor has infectious disease… well… you know.

The other aspect is the ethics/ decency of the project. I would not want to buy it. Many other people would find it disgusting, too. And who will voluntarily let themselves me milked for industrial purposes?

I think it’s just weird.

Answer #10

Ya I have been wondering that, but i did see that on the news.

Answer #11

True that! But if the breast milk is “safe” then you can try. There is a company in america that makes and sells breastmilk ice cream. It apparently tastes like condensed milk… Don’t know if that is true, cause I havn’t tried it… And don’t really think I want to.

Answer #12

HIV/AIDS comes to mind…
