I think I need to lose some weight

Okay so I will start off by telling you all I am 14 years of age, my height is about 5 foot and I weigh in at 125…subtracting two from when you weigh yourself with clothes. I have tooken BMI tests to check to see if I am overweight and they say I am by at least 7 pounds. I still haven’t had my major growths spurt yet and I want to know what you all think I should do best to loose some of the fat I fear won’t disappear. Such as inner thigh fat and little baby fat in which none of my family members have lost. I really want to loose 7 pounds or more to the point of staying at the weight of 110 maybe? I would truly love advice for this…please and thank you.

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!

  Welcome to Fun Advice!

100 to 105 pounds would probably place you in the middle (50 percentile) of your age/height group. You may be a little on the heavy side but I wouldn’t worry any about it as you will probably grow into it.

Don’t trust BMI results. They are designed for Adults from 18 to 65 years of age.

I would be more concerned with getting plenty of good exercise which will tone your body replacing some fat with muscle. It might not make you lose much weight but you will be happier with your appearance.

“What should a minimum calorie intake be?”

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

No one who is in the 120s is fat. Unless you’re under four feet. You’re lucky. I’m 130 pounds exactly…
