He talks about that cuting down on meat eating is good for the environment and i belive him but is it still true if the food you are eating have been transported from country to country? like some fruit comes from Spain, others from poland, and so on.

Yep the transport is one thing, but cows are partly responsible for the Greenhouse Effect. In this way, eating less cows would lead to fewer cows being bred, which in turn would lead to less Greenhouse gases being produced. Cow’s feet are also damaging to soil.

Feet :S… I meant grazing behaviours (e.g., grazing in the wet can result in soil compaction).

It is good for the environment if you shop local products - obviously - as the transport requires energy (petrol). To eat vegetarian - or smaller amounts of meat - is also good for the environment. As meat production requires more ressources than vegetable production.

So the answer is both, yes and no. If you switch to vegetarian, remove the local chicken farm from your shopping list, but eat strawberries imported from the spanish canary islands in november, then you are’n really doing any good.

If you switch to vegetarian and eat mostly local products wherever those are available and stop buying beef imported from Argentina, then that would be good for the environment.
