How can I dye my hair one color, while I am still growing out Highlights that were bleached in?

Last year I had white/bleached streaks highlighted into my hair. I have otherwise brown to dark brown hair. The streaks are grown about 4” now, and have faded somewhat. I’m afraid that if I try a home dye job with stuff from Sally’s like I do when I’m broke lol, I’ll end up with Orange streaks where the highlights are/were. I just can’t afford my stylist right now, and my hair is finally super long, so cutting it is not an option I’d consider either. I’d like to try a deep purple or Bright red, so that with adding highlights I’d end up with something like this… (3rd photo down) [link removed] A little help? I normally would never do something this funky on my own, but money is tight and I need an updated look asap for photo shoots! *You can see my streaks in my profile picture, but it’s from last summer, and they are much more grown out now!

It won’t let me include the link to the hair color I want so here is a pic. I don’t need anything nearly that drastic, I just love the idea of the differing hues on the model, and whether I chose one or ALL of them, I am digging the colors!
