Usually after I clean my ears and my gauge, I leave it wet and it makes it easier to slip in (:

Im confused. If you are down sizing (as in making the hole smaller) I dont see how it wont go through. Unless you mean downsizing (as in lower number bigger hole) then I would have to agree with using a lubricant. Vaseline would do the trick. Good Luck!
