dog has dry flakey skin.
My neighbours dog loves me and he’s got dry flakey skin and it doesn’t itch. He’s really old I think he’s about 13 or 14 in human years. The owners have never taken him to the vets about it so we did and paid the bill for them then the owner came and told us he was going to the pub to spend his money on beer(as he always does) after we just paid his vet bill. Anyway we gave him the special shampoo that the vet had given us but he doesnt really keep his promise about washing him twice a week, and the water dish they give him is left out and the water gets green and mucky and they have water features outside that are green and scummy and they let the dog drink out of them and one water feature is soo scummy it bubbles and a pot they have is full of water and the water is so dirty its an orange colour and I think it might be that why he has flakey skin cause it might be a fungal infection. I brush him every time I see him and its has got a little bit better but they don’t brush him at all. Before, they fed him twice a day but because they dont want to waste money they have cut it to once a day and they always complain about paying for things for him and we have to buy him all the toys and their kids rip them apart and blame the dog. The family is a bit slow and ignorant so its hard to say anything to them about it, soo any ideas what I could do with or without telling them? btw the dog is a cocker spaniel if that helps
why dont you ask them if you can have it? ha or just report them for neglect to animal control
Ask if you could have the dog for like 50 bucks? Tell the owner you would give him a great home and take care of the little guy. Maybe the owner would say yes?
Well…you could ask them to surrender the poor guy to you, if you can take him in, that is…Or you can do for him what they won’t do…change his water, brush him…give him the extra feeding everyday…and of course, love him up. Old animals thrive with lots of love. If you do start doing the caretaking, the brushing will kick start the oil glands in his skin helping him out with that dry coat…Also, if you give him that extra meal everyday, go to Walmart and buy some Fish Oil Caps…(depending on his size…200 mgs for small…500 mgs for medium sized…like 40 lbs up to 70 lbs… 1000 mgs for 70 lbs and over)…the Omegas in Fish Oil will do wonders for his coat, with the extra plus of helping his old joints…
You’re a GOOD GUY!!! :)
phrannie
why dont you start off by offering to walk the dog for them free of charge then over time say you love the dog and could you take him off their hands1 maybe offer them money!
bless you. it would break my heart seeing a dog like that suffer!!!
call animal welfare ior RSPCA for advice or action/
I do take him for a walk for them and give him a extra meal with cod liver oil on top of the food and I do brush him regularly and when I see the dish they give him(mostly always green) I change it and if I got money for every time I had to change their water dish I would be a millionaire. unfortunately I cant take him off their hands because I have a parrot and they wouldnt give me him for free cause they are too tight with their money I take him for walks at every chance I get and play with him outside for a few ours and if they have gone out normaly 8+ hours and give him lots of love. and I cant move house yet because I dont want to leave him and when he’s gone then I will finally move and tell them what I think of them and I would buy him but I already have a pet and I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of my money. so thank you for the answers and it looks like im doing evrything right.
