Do I have strep?

I was throwing up Saturday morning. Then Sunday my throat hurt like REALLY bad and I couldn’t eat or drink anything. I have been caughing white stuff up and it hurts really bad! I can like feel it in my ears? ha Like the itch and so does my throat.. Nothing has worked for it, but my mom doesn’t think anything is wrong so she won’t take me to the doctores. I’ve never had it before so does this sound like strep?

Even a doctor can’t tell strep without a culture, but if you were throwing up the day before, that would burn your throat (acid from your stomach) causing burning and itching, and some acid might have inflamed the end of the eustachian tube (which directly connects your inner ear with your throat), which might have caused the tube to be blocked. And blocked tubes used to cause bad ear and throat itching in me back when I was scuba diving. Should get much better in 24+ hours. And no fever.

If you have strep, you will probably develop a fever (usually 2 degrees or more), and white spots on the back of your throat. And usually no cough. Then might be the time to see a doctor. Strep throat untreated can lead to rheumatic fever and scarlet fever, as well as more serious (but rarer) things. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

strep throat has two main symptoms that doctors look for: a sore throat and a fever. if you don’t have a fever, it’s most likely that you don’t have strep, but you need a throat culture.

also, this white stuff you’re talking about does not sound good. sounds more like tonsilitis (sp) than strep. go to the doc hon!
