Is there a disorder for someone who is a perfectionist (read more)?

I have never gotten straight A’s before, but I just started High School, and I just had a nervous breakdown after seeing my grades. I couldn’t breath for an hour, and I was crying and shaking. I’ve never been a perfectionist or anything, but I have seemed depressed for a while now. Is there a disorder with these symptoms?

Answer #1

Anxiety maybe? Sometimes when im really stressed out. I look for excuses to freak out, panic! & just let my emotions all out. (If that makes sense.) Have you been stressed out lately? Also, your REALLY young. It could very well just be horomones or something. :P

Answer #2

Ocd. Obsessive compulsive disorder

Answer #3

Can you be diagnosed with that at 14 though?

Answer #4

absolutely.

Answer #5

I would agree with Caleb, It’s prob OCD, I have it. You can get it at any age, age doesn’t matter. But I’m also a perfectionist and thats due to OCD I would think. I get really angry and frustrated when things.. like I can’t get my hair the exact way or I can’t get something right.

Answer #6

Or it could be that your really just stressed out with you have a lot going on right now, and stuff just keeps piling up.

Answer #7

If these symptoms just started I wouldn’t jump the gun on OCD just yet. Entering high school is a big deal. There’s a sense that you are now in preperation of growing up which means your crossing over from a carefree childhood and heading towards adulthood. That’s alot of responsiblity to weigh in. Will you be accepted as a teen…your grades vs college, and your own self discovery as you form your own indviduality. Lot’s of good and bad things happen in high school and you may just be sensing how some of those thoughts are overwhelming you. Take a deep breath and relax. You just got there…it’ll get easier.

Answer #8

The fact that this is related to high school and grades would make me agree with harleythecreator. There is a lot of pressure in high school and teachers always put a lot of emphasis on grades which could be making you anxious. Exercise can be a great way to reduce anxiety and just keep trying your best and what will be will be!
