How does the depo shot make you gain weight (Read description)?

I know that the depo shot makes 1 in 4 women gain weight, but how does it do that? By increasing cravings and making you hungry, or just gaining weight seemingly by magic? Does anyone have any information about the depo shot or any personal experiences to share?

The hormones makes you hungrier therefore you eat more. Also with the depo because of the large amount of hormones in it you’ll have lots of water retention which can make you gaine weight as well. Information about it. My opinion is to get another form of birth control or at least the other shot (can’t remember it’s name- something nur–) which you get every month. The depo stops your period, which isn’t particularly good for any women and it definitely causes osteoporosis if you use it for a long period of time. Also many women struggle to fall pregnant when they go off the depo if they have used it for a long time. There are countless things out there to protect you, I would use the depo as a last resort or for medical reasons.
