Does the depo provera shot cause weight gain?

Omg really? It causes that much of a weight gain? Damn.

you can get a nuvaring or something put in if you dont want to take the depo shot or pills

on any type of birth control it can go either way, you can gain excessive weight or lose weight. a friend of mine is on it and lost a total of 70 lbs and another friend on it gained 50 lbs. depends on the person

Hm, I should check that one out, but I keep reading reviews about how girls have had hair loss and serious weight gain because of that.

oh well my older sister is using a ring and she has experienced no problems and she loves it

if your going to use nuvaring make sure its in correctly. it didn;t work for me cuz it would fall down and put a bunch of pressure on my pubic bone.

I realize that, but I was searching it up and I found a lot of negative reviews on most of them so I have no idea which I should go with.

yea i understand your worries b4 i started taking my new birth a generic of yasmin i searched and read so many things wrong with it i was scared to take it cuz of mood swings and such. i started taking it i lost 5 lbs which alot for a 105 lb girl, and my doctor suggested vitamin b complex and a daily vitamin for moods and havent had any issues.

You could try Mirena. It’s an IUD and it works for up to 5 years. I’ve heard very positive reviews on it, and as soon as you take it out, you can start trying for children.

i guess just ask your doctor he or she is the best person who can do that kind of judgment and have the right advice i didn’t even think about it until now.

teh best birth control i used was lo overal, the pill. i didn’t gain weight, and i didn’t lose it either.

My daughter used it and even though I can not say her weight gain was due to it, I can say that when she did have a period it was a real doozy! She said there was nothing that solved her fertility issues better but after the first time she said she wouldn’t do it again. A couple years later she started doing it again. She has gained a lot of weight.
