Can I move in with my Mom if she doesn't have custody?

my dad and step mom have custody of me and I want to get out and move to my mothers house but she only has visitation rights. what can I do? I live in kansas

Answer #1

It appears you would need your Dad’s permission to do it legally - you might be able to reach an agreement/compromise with him by either: presenting your case that it would be in your best interests or your Mom convince him or both of you together make the case - I wish you the very best !!

Answer #2

I’m not familiar with your situation but this is really a legal matter (even though I think legalities can often be unfair). You should talk with both parents/guardians and discuss your wishes–the family court judge should also be notified of your wishes as well, that way if there’s any difficulties the FCJ can refer your family to a LMFT, social services, etc. Judges are increasingly weighing in on the personal feelings of minors when it comes to custody and often times, cases can be settled out of court or via mediation. Best wishes to you. -S

Answer #3

Answer #4

if you move without the courts permission your mom will end up in jail and you’ll be shipped back to your dad
