Can I go back to my country - Portugal - without parent's permission?

Answer #1

Depends how old you are.

Answer #2

What citizenship do you have? If you are Portugese, then you should be able to go there at any time, if you can pay the tickets for the flight.

Do you have a place to live there? Relatives maybe? Would they take you in?

Answer #3

You’ll have to check with your country’s policies regarding age of majority … a quick search found the legal age to move out in Europe is 18, but I can’t promise that’s accurate.

Answer #4

This is a special situation, I think. If I got her right, she’s Portuguese but her parents do not live in Portugal. So if she went back to Portugal, authorities would have to send her abroad in order to take her back to her family. Which they might do if her parents live in the EU. But they sure will not make any of their own citizens - of whatever age - emigrate to overseas.

Answer #5

I’m 17? And I’m portuguese I aint from here (uk)

Answer #6

I have got the money for the flights and I got house out there moving in with my boyfriend, but mum doesn’t want me to go back and I really need to know if I can go back to my country without their permission, and I’m 17 :/ I don’t see the problem I just wanna go back to my country :/

Answer #7

how old are you?

Answer #8

The fact that your parents live in the UK does not seem important at all. A teenager is able to travel alone to another country within the EU. I traveled to France when I was 14 and I traveled to Scotland when I was 17. No one asked whether I have my parents permission at the borders.

Answer #9

Portuguese law is relevant here. You need to find out whether a teenager of 17 years could move out without the parents consent in Portugal. If a 17 year old girl who lives with her family in Portugal could move to her boyfriends place without her parents consent, then you also can move to Portugal. You should find out on a Portuguese search engine or Portuguese wikipedia. I do not speak your language, so I can’t help you there. See if you can find something on the Internet. If not, you should call a Portuguese lawyer and ask there.
