confederate rose

My confederate roses really attract white fly. spraying seems to be useless. If I prune them now will they still bloom this year? I live in Fl and it is quite humid and hot. They are so beautiful they are worth extra effort.

Answer #1

I do not think they will die, if you prune them. just little extra water should keep ‘em bloomin’!

Answer #2

white flies are attracted to damp conditions. Spraying the rose will not help if the soil in the area is wet. It is best to trim them after a freeze, if there are no freezes in your area, then right after the historically coldest time you have.
