Can LDS people date Baptists?

Can LDS people date Baptists? Well, I’m just curious since the man I met online is Baptist and from Tennasee. I was just wondering, would it be alright to date a Baptist since I’m LDS? I would greatly appreciate some feedback.

You can date anyone you’d like. If you’re wondering whether it’s against the rules of your religion and/or his religion, I can tell you that neither of your congregations will probably be thrilled with it. But it’s not actually against the rules of either faith to date outside the church. I’ve known Mormons who dated Mennonites, and Baptists who dated Buddhists (OK, not really, but I was trying to use a little alliteration in my response…just keeping it light). But, in truth, my uncle is married to a Mormon woman, and he was raised Catholic.

The only rule Mormons have about dating that I’m aware of is that you can’t do it until you’re 16. Baptists don’t have anything written in stone, but again, they encourage their followers to date evangelical Christians.

The bottom line is, don’t let anyone from your church or his church tell you it’s a sin for you two to date. And find out what he thinks about the whole thing.

I agree with silverwings. I’ met a lot of different faith couples/families, and I have yet to meet a functional one where both parents are active in their faith. either one stops attending their church, or both get angry. but yeah, mormons can date whoever they want, (16 and older, like mjax said.) good luck…live the dream.

There is nothing wrong with dating people from other faiths, however, trying to make a serious relationship work, with different faiths, can be a problem. Especially if it leads to marriage, and then, children, and how to raise those children, sometimes can lead to huge splits.

Much to think and pray about,

Answer #5

I completely second what mjax1979 said.

Also, denominations these days are just different labels for the most part. The differences are but the smallest ones and were often man-made. In my opinion, you should be looking to find a relationship with God and reading the Bible yourself to find out what you should go by not what your “denomination” says. If what he stands by is what is in the Bible, then it’s fine…although that’s if LDS people believe that the Bible is the completely true and authoritative source.

In the end, I’d just pray about it and go from there.

Hope that helps!

The Bible says not to be ‘unequally yoked’ in marriage…Take care !!

Answer #7

Sure they can, but you’d have more fun with an atheist.
