Can a 17 year old own property in ky ?

Only child she 17 years old.dont want half siblings taking land and property away from her can the parents give her the property…and such in her name at 17 years old?

Answer #1

Yes, they can, even if in case of their death before she attains majority she may need an executor/guardian

Answer #2

Only way to do it is put it in a trust with rights to the child, I think that a child can have a trust…but, you can’t sign a contract at that age, so, you can’t assign it straight across.

ALSO, depending on the inheritance laws, if there are siblings, what you’re suggesting may in fact be illegal…if it’s worth the money (which it sounds like it) consult an attorney now, so you avoid a lawsuit among family later.
