Is it normal to have a big bruise after getting blood work?

i got blood drawn yesterday and there’s a big blue bruis, and around where the needle was its blood red. it’s still a bit sore. is it supposed to be like that?

just a little puncture. sometimes you cant even see but but after i get a needle in my arm it usually starts to swell so it varies

Its quite often like that, yes. It depends alot on the skill of the person drawing the blood. Ideally you wouldnt have much of a bruise, but if the person had trouble finding the vein or something there may be more bruising. I usually find I get some bruising even if the person was really good, which I think is pretty normal since the blood is going to clot to close the wound and heal.
