Is it possible to be allergic to water?

It is possible, but pretty rare. I have heard about people who break out in painful rashes in the shower etc. Maybe its something in the water she is drinking? She should talk to a doctor anyway.

That would be very weird to be allergic to water because our bodies are made up mostly of water… But I guess it isn’t impossible.

Yes, I am allergic to water (in large amounts). I remember once on a very hot day we were out shopping for Christmas, I had to wait at the front of the store for the other people to finish their shopping and I became very thirsty. All that was available (at the front of the large store) was a vending machine selling bottled water. I purchased some, drank most of it and then I had to run outside and I threw up. Never again.

I know someone who is allergic or rather hypersensitive to skin contact with water, though he can drink water normally. This is pretty bad for him, as he can only clean himself with lotion towels. And if he ever gets into the rain, he gets blisters all over. X_X

Yes it’s possible. Very sad actually. Sometimes it could be what in the water. Some of what is put in the water is varied state to state. Although the body is made of about 70% water, its her skin that reacts to it, not exactly her organs.

there may be specific minerals that are added to the water that she can be allergic to. but its possible to be allergic to pure water too.

Come on, the human body is primarily water. Something IN the water, yes. But not water itself because you could not remain alive.

No one is actually allergic to water itself. There are things in the water to make it purified for us to be able to drink it and something in that is what you can be allergic too. In some places, bleach is added to water filters to make it clean and be sanitized for it to be healthy. Although going through the purified system most of the bleach is removed but it can stay in the water.
