Do you absolutely need to take ROTC during high school to get into the air force?

Answer #1

You don’t need to take any type of ROTC to get into a military branch of service. Most people would suggest it however because they take the core principles of that branch and teach it to you at a younger age so that you can understand how that branch works.

ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corp) is just short for officer training. Most people take it so that they don’t fall under the Enlisted ranks, meaning once they get out, they have the opportunity to take ROTC in an academy and graduate as an officer. This is a great advantage because you’re much higher on the Pay scale and won’t have to subject yourself to the meaningless Enlisted jobs.

Answer #2

Good answer except the part about enlisted jobs being meaningless. I served 4 years enlisted and not one thing I did was ever meaningless. I had a ton of responsibility and took it very serious. A person should’nt just join for their own benefit, but also to serve.
