17 year old in foster care???

if a seventeen year old is in foster care and wants to get a surgery (not life or death but there are risks) yet doesn’t have the consent of his foster parents can he still get the surgery?

not sure if this matters but he has only been with his current foster parent for a few weeks, and his birth parents have nothing to do with his life.

he also turns 18 in 4 months and we live in NYC. so who’s choice is it if he gets the surgery or not?

The foster parents are the legal guardians. So if they don’t give consent, the surery can’t be done.

If it can wait to be done, wait the 4 months. If it can’t wait, I’m not sure wha to tell you.
