There’s a flip side to this coin. Many immigrants enter the United States legally and go through the process of becoming citizens. They apply for visas, political asylum, etc. They must take a difficult test on American history, law and government, and go through a background investigation. They must submit medical records. And, they have no choice about learning English.

My own family falls into this category. They came to the US to escape oppression and seek a better life, and had to do all of the above. I think it’s fair for these immigrants to ask what the f*ck when it comes to this country’s current position on illegal immigration.

I have nothing against Mexican immigration to the US. It plays an important role in the country’s economy, and as you say most of these people are here to find a better life and should have that chance. I don’t believe in mass deportation, but I also don’t believe in letting people simply walk into the country. A happy medium has to be found.

I believe a big reason for current immigration is NAFTA, and it’s been shown that immigration from Mexico has risen dramatically since the mid 90s. NAFTA was not kind to Mexican farmers, and, as you’d guess, many Mexican migrants are farmers who find work on US farms. So our trade policies with Mexico should be one of our first priorities in addressing illegal immigration.

Ok so sorry I didn’t write my full statement but I had to go to school ok so what I’m saying is that because of NAFTA screwing us over it just make life worse for all the mexicans who are working down in mexico and I would like to either get rid of NAFTA or make them pay better and it’s not like they were already taking your jobs I mean either way they still were for cheap labor because thats all the the big corporations care for is money so what I think the best solution for this and so everybody might be happy is that the U.S take all of the companies that are ripping off the mexican people to take all their companies and leave and let the mexican government to attend to the economic situation and if my career as a singer and actor don’t work out I would enter into the mexican government and help them resolve this issue and by the time I’m 30 Mexico and America would be at the same level as of economic situation and all the homesick Mexicans would come back to mexico and be with their families and live in their homeland without fear of deportation or any of that stuff other than a crime that they have committed in their country and that would be the end of that then americans wouldn’t have to complain. As for the illegal immagration issue now honestly tell me all the americans who have it good how would you feel if your country wasn’t doing good and another country was ripping your people off what would you do to ensure financial security for your family?look for work in another country for a better life for you and your family right?Even if that meant entering that country illegally you guys would be fighting and lauching protest too saying that you have equal rights and demand equality so just understand it from our point of view. Sincerely the solution to Mexicos problems =)

I don’t have any problem with people trying to better their own life but I think if they want to better they’re life then why don’t all the immigrants, instead of running from their problems all band together and try to fix things in their own country?

Answer #6

If we had sensible immigation policies, there wouldn’t be a problem with illegals. It would be a LOT easier to keep criminals from entering if the process for entering was basically just a background check, and if people could work legally, they wouldn’t have to seek employment illegally.

Answer #7

xxx times 3, that’s not the point. the point is that they need to come over legally. that’s what the majority of our ancestors did…I’m sure you’ve heard of ellis island. my great-grandmother came from hungary with her father when she was 12 years old. he didn’t pass the tests and examinations and they both went back to hungary. two years later they sent her back alone and she met up with some distant relatives. eventually, the rest of her family made it over. there is no issue if they’re doing it the right way. what good is it if generations from now someone tells a story about their great-grandparents and how they made life for their family better and the story was well we were to lazy to do it legally, so we just crossed the border without anyone knowing. it’s just not right.

Answer #8

CAN I JUST SAY we are all immigrants no matter how you try to put it we all came here(ancestors) for a better life to express themselfs in ways they cant in there own country!!! SO WHAT GIVES PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO SAY THERE BREAKING THE LAW OR TO GO BACK FROM THE PLACE THEY CAME!!! lets just say PEOPLE DONT CARE IF ITS NOT THERE FAMILY OUT THERE and that I understand but sometimes its about the right thing there kids being ripped away from familys someones mom is being taken away its just not right and we as americans should know better(we are the most stable country out there)…thats why they come here…

Answer #9

I am far from racist, being that a really close friend of mine is mexican. she immigrated to the US when we were in first grade and her family did it the legal way, all 9 of them. Legal immigration is perfectly acceptable. but what isn’t acceptable is the illegal immigrants. I understand that they want a better life and they want to provide for their families, but they have to understand that there are legal citizens who also have this same goal. with tons of illegals here taking jobs away from legals, we have american citizens suffering. the point is that if someone wants to move to the US, they need to do it the correct way.

Answer #10

I dont have no problems with mexicans… But when they are comin over the boarder to take all of our jobs its not right… There are lots of americans going thorugh whatever is going on in their country! We all have problems and you just have to deal with them. AND would they like it if we were sneaking into their country and taking their jobs and leaving a mexcian family on the streets of their own country to die because their job is taken by an amercian ummm no.

Answer #11

I agree with fromautumntoashesx3, immigration if done through the PROPER CHANNELS is not a problem, those that believe they can just come across at any time ILLEGALLY- ARE THE PROBLEM. by definition they are committing a criminal act, which by definition makes them criminals. I have no problem with LEGAL IMMIGRATION, AND WELCOME ANYONE RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO DO THINGS WITHIN THE LAW. I do however believe that if you are here ILLEGALLY, you should be deported. it is fine if someone wants a better life for themselves and their families- JUST DO THINGS WITH RESPECT FOR OUR LAWS.

Answer #12

my dad is an immigration officer and its not the illegals thats a problem, its the ones that run into this country not doing it the right way or trying to get there citizenship thats a problem… many are infact criminals that do, do that cause if they were to go through immigration they would be caught.. you would be seprised at how many have offences on them and should be allowed to be here but we let them any way.. its not the immigrants that do things the right way I have a problem with .. its the ones that are sexual affender and people like that that live ehre illegal that I have a problem with

Answer #13

mjax1979 I totally know what you’re talking about and yes I do beleive NAFTA is what caused the uprising of immigration

And I also agree withprince zk189 I mean if all this time that people have been saying that 1 person can really make a difference I would like to be that one person or at least help the person who is going to make the big changes

Answer #14

I’m really sorry that you go through that, its so sad. If you don’t have a bad criminal past then I don’t see what the problem is. Your right, they immigrate for a better life and I think thats great. If they have done nothing wrong during their life, they shouldn’t be discriminated against. The only people I wouldn’t want living around me are people who have a horrible criminal past because I would be scared. I see nothing wrong with Mexicans immigrating to safer countries, they deserve to be safe. I hope the best for you and your family.

Answer #15

well im mexican and I am legal here you know I was born here but my opinion is that if you look at it at other ppls point of view it is bad and can be good because come on one of the maine reasons some people dont want us here is because of the gangs come on how many caucasians do you see in gangs..not really any there all mexican and also other people think that by us cominginto the us were taking there jobs away and a lot of white people dont have jobs but also those rasist people dont know what kinda life some people have in mexico I wemt to live in mexico for 5 years and it was bad there were some people who couldnt even afford warm water to take showers in they had no food to feed there children and some kids died of starvation or sickness somepeople live in bad conditions so they come to the us for hope and help to findidn a new start…thats what ma parents did and look at them now they are a big success.

Answer #20

Illegal immigration is a problem that can be solved very easily. Make it a felony punishable by jail time for hiring illegals. If there are no jobs here, they won’t come. Put a few CEOs butts in prison, and you will see illegal immigration disappear overnight.

You can not punish nor blame someone for coming here, when jobs are available to them. Make the jobs unavailable, and they will get legal, or have to leave.

It is simple supply and demand, as long there is a demand for cheap illegal labor, there will always be a supply. No amount of fences or border security will prevent it.
