Other than reading and crosswords, what other ways can I make my brain think?

I was just about to say Sudoku. That’s an awesome game. Go to shockwave.com and play all the puzzle and strategy games.

There are things like crosswords etc but also diet tips (apple juice for one) and anti-stress pointers…

Back to your question: ANYTHING where you have to concentrate helps keep your brain moving along.

It can things like involve words (like reading, crosswords), or Sudoko, but also hobbies like model-building, knitting (!), even building card-houses if you’re desperate. For that matter, several of the free computer cardgames (like Free Cell, where it’s not all a matter of luck) are good. So is learning a new language.

On the the hand, watching TV has been shown to have the opposite effect: the brain relaxes and just lets the impressions soak in.
