Will Ohio police get involved?

If I leave home to go live with someone like family in a state where the cops can’t make you go home if your 17, will I be allowed to stay because of this law or not because I left from Ohio? (I’ll be 17 when this applies)

Answer #1

And I’m pretty sure unless they are a legal guardian you cannot live with them. They could be charged with kidnapping in a way I think.. And you would be considered a runaway.. People WILL come looking for you and police might just get involved. Just wait until you’re 18. Time goes by fast.

We were just sort of talking about this in government class yesterday that when you live in a state that allows you to get your license when you’re only 15 years old, you can drive in a different state though you’re not 16. So I do not think this will apply to you because you are a citizen who lives in Ohio and must obey their state laws. So this 17 law in a different state wouldn’t apply to you because you don’t live there. I’m not completely positive though.

You need to be of legal age according to Ohio’s law to do any of this.
