Why is my 8 mth old boxer so thin?

I have a beautiful baby boy. 8 mnths and just plain sweet. The problem is that he is not gaining weight and is very thin. He does not have worms and blood work shows nothing. You can see his ribs, spine and hip bones. He eats well and is active. As I started to research this problem I am starting to see that I am not the only one going through this with their baby boxers. I am also wondering that if this, as weird as it sounds, is not adnormal as a boxer grows. If anyone has dealt with this issue and has some suggestions please let me know.

I have a 7 month old rottweiler same thing with him large breeds of dogs tend to grow upwards for the first 18 months of their lives after about 12 - 14 months large dogs fill out

Answer #2

I think when large dogs are puppies, they stay pretty thin

Answer #3

Some large breed pups appear to be very thin until they are 12 to 14 months old (Boxers being just about the thinnest)…so much energy, they burn all their calories.

You can feed him a little more if he’ll eat it, but you don’t want him fat…their bones and joints don’t harden until they are about 1 year old…fat causes unneeded stress on their skeleten.

When he’s a year old, he’ll start to fill out…he’ll look like a totally different dog.
