Why don't people hire young teens?

  It’s a matter of economics and liability. Most places are, by law, restricted from hiring someone younger than 16. Also, many potential employers hesitate to hire young people because of their lack of a responsible track record plus their fear of liability in case of injury.

Check in your state and see what the laws are as to what kinds of jobs you may be eligible to work at. They may not be what you are interested in but they help you start building a positive track record.

It can be hard for ANYONE to get a job, and if a place can hire a totally unknown and untested 14 year old OR an 18 year old who has a good work history, guess who gets hired. Your school may have some job postings. See your guidance counselor. Your parents or neighbors may be able to help you get hired. Getting recommendations from any community leader types that you can (Scout leaders, Coaches, Teachers, Priests, etc.). Start EARLY. (If you are just now starting to look you are going to have a rough time finding a job.) Be patient, but keep plugging. And Dress nicely (as nice or nicer than if you were actually working there.) supper girl that is the stupedist idea I’ve ever heard, that is illegle, and will get you fired. I really dont agree that fancy places should hire first time workers, they need to make sure you have job experience, and arent just letting you loose, because they dont want to have to babysit you for the whole day. find another job in the mean time, jobs that 14 year old can have are REALLY fun all you do is talk and eat.
