Why does this keep coming up?

Umm my computer has the old versions of windows etc and when I open up the read only programmes for windows 7 it keeps saying preparing to install in a little grey box and it comes and goes but never finishes so I cant read the information I need and if I try to end it, it closes the whole programme down. What should I do? apart from install windows 7 etc because I cant on my computer.

it sounds like you might have a virus do you have any anti virus protection on your computer if not you should get some and you may have to reinstall windows to make it stop
