Why does my female cat hiss and attack at her son after neutering?

My female cat is 3yrs old and we took her son 6mths to be neutered and still 3 days post op she hisses, and growls and attacks him, why does she do this? Will she stop?

Answer #1

because he smells different. For her he’s no longer what her son was. He no longer smell like a male cat, because in a sense he’s not. That’s why neutering an animal can become a real stressmoment for them. But in most cases they adapt.

Answer #2

cats are territorial…

doesnt matter if its family or not..

she may stop but dont bet on it :)
