Why does my cat eat everything?

My cat eats everything in sights then throws up. The other day he threw up a wad of at least 15 hair tie rubberbands. He eats the bark of the wood for the fireplace. He eats the plastic ring around the milk carton lid. Why does he do this and how do I make him stop?

he’s curious? j/k :) I found a website that discusse your cat eating non-food items: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/siamese_cats/118140

Cats have an intrest in the unedibals. Things thay cant eat that look like they should eat them. try adding more supplaments to its diet more fiber foods and maybe a bowl of milk once a week. Dont give your cat human food unless its canned tuna or other kinds of fish cause cats are somewhat like dogs and will attach themselves to human foods quickly if your kitten is already attached to human foods that might be why its eating everything it can get ahold of. oh one more thing Corn products anything that has corn listed as the top 4 ingrediants goes right though animals. so whats that and see how things go.
