why;; do you think this is why im over weight?

oky so im over weight, im going to try to loose it this summer, but thts not the point. Im a thirteen year old girl that suffers from depression, and latley I’ve been noticing I eat when im sad or depressed, I used to cut and that used to be my release from depression and stuff, but is that the reason im overwieght?!, btw srry for any bad spelling ima lil tierd…

Just eat healthily and excersize and you’ll lose weight in no time.

And 160lbs is not that bad considering I’m 215lbs and you are probably taller than me.

um yea im really over weight im 160lbs, and I do I have to take medication and go to 2 therapists so yea I was just wondering kay and its not that easy when I get made fun of b.c. of it and I dont really moan bout it I was just wondering…

It could be. I have a friend who eats a lot too when she’s depressed. Just try watching what you eat if you can and exercise more. If you feel depressed and feel like you have to eat something then get any healthy snack instead of a fattening one like fruit or nuts. Hopefully that helps

You are 13. Stop moaning about your weight. If you want to do something about it, then do it. You dont even look overweight. And you probably don’t know what real clinical depression is.

You just go have fun, stop worrying about your weight!

okay so some of these people seem like they don’t understand. um yeah sometimes when people are depressed they just don’t do anything and eat. don’t cut yourself please! it can also give you infections and stuff. if someone saw the cuts, they’d probably tell other people which would make you feel more sad. so stop cutting yourself could help with starting to not be so sad. please I will listen just you can talk to me and I not annoy me. people talk to me quite often and such so if you ever need to talk, I’m here. (:

A LOT of overweight people are overweight because of ‘emotional eating’…they eat to feel better…so yes, your depression and the reasons for you over eating are related to your weight.

I know it’s hard to be motivated when you’re depressed, but there is one thing that WILL make you feel better and that is exercise…just walking, even…it will burn calories…and release endorphins in the brain. You’ll have less time to eat, then you’ll see that you feel better, and don’t NEED to eat so much…plus you’re burning the calories. Three fold.

Just drag your body out the door (kicking andscreaming if you have to :) ), your mind will soon follow.

If you are taking an SSRI medication like Zoloft or Prozac or any of those then they will make you hungry. And yes you are medicating yourself with food as a reward. The only antidepressant that actually will make you loose weight is Wellbutrin. Tell the doctor that you wanna switch medication due to weight gain and get the generic Bupropion SR. Bupropion is the generic name of Wellbutrin and is actually on clinical trials for future use as a weight lost medication.
