Why do people say it's wrong to date someone online?

I’d be a bit concerned about a guy who spends his time in a chat room at the age of 21… he has nothing better to do? Sounds a bit odd to me. I mean I’m not against the online thing, I think sometimes relationships can spring up unintentionally, perhaps on sites like these that at least have some purpose.

There’s no right or wrong answer, guys on the net aren’t necessarily all monsters. You should know if there’s something a bit odd about him. Have you spoken to him on the webcam? It’s up to you if you want to be, don’t be pressurised. If you decide to meet just do the safety stuff, ie meet with friends, meet in a public area, tell someone else your plans etc

I don’t usually date someone long distance via dating sites. I like to go from finding a date online (http://funadvice.com/r/15k1roih6b6, http://funadvice.com/r/15k1roih8t2) to meet them in persona ASAP. Otherwise it’s just very time consuming activity with a little prospect of evolving to something like a serious relationship. But to each his own.
