why do parents not like piercings

I have a few piercings and it takes me FOREVER to convince my mom to let me get them. why are parents so freaked out by piercings.

Answer #1

well my mom said that she doesn’t want me 2 not like it after awhile and get bored of it

Answer #2

You managed to convince them… lucky!

My mum (yes I’m 18, but I do have respect for her opinions) won’t let me have anything that isn’t in the ear. I dont want my ears pierced. Yet, she let my sister who is 3 years younger than me, and herself get a tattoo!!

It doesn’t make sense to me, but oh well. I’ll just have to wait until I move out.

Answer #3

Because it reminds them of everything they never got to do!

They’re so lonely…

Answer #4

Mostly, because it was not popular in their generation and it’s something that is fairly new.

Older people fear what they don’t understand.

Answer #5

I don’t know… I think it’s stupid people make such a big deal about it. There’s nothing wrong with piercings OR tattoos. If you ever decide you don’t want the piercing anymore it CAN be removed. As long as you get it done at a PROFESSIONAL place, you shouldn’t have any problems like infections. Most parents just don’t get it I guess. My mom doesn’t really mind them because she figures it’s not her body so she has no right to judge. My dad on the other hand flips out over stuff like that because he’s sorta “old fashioned” which kinda gets a bit annoying at times lol

Answer #6

imagine you had a child your age would you want them getting peircings there are many many cons, getting it crooked, hitting a nerve or vein, healing time, infection also theres things like school and your job to consider then there if they did it themselves, a friend did it, they got it unprofesioanlly dont at a salon or mall, were pressured then theres the price, and the fact that taking them out will leave a permanent scar, and the bigger the hole is the less likley it will be able to close up so your stuck with an open hole for the rest of your life and that doesnt look great also theres the fact that most kids nowdays to it as a trend/fad, because its popular and looks “cool” but later on theyll be over it, just like the backstreet boys then only pro is that they can look good and parents know most of these things so they usually beleive its unessessary or if you want to get it done at least wait a few years or untill your 18 so you can make up your mind and see if this is really something you want
