Who can help?My bestie copies me & puts me down, what should I do?

My best friend is great and I love her to bits but she copies me all the time & brings me down if I have something “better” and its really annoying me lately. Normally, she just copies my clothing and hair (which she acts like she looks better in, and if she can’t find anything bad to say about me she starts making stuff up.) But now, she’s copying my favorite thing in the world - singing. Not only has she started taking singing lessons from my singing teacher, she’s trying out for this preforming arts school I want to try out for. I know that if she makes it and I don’t she’s never going to let me go about it and forever have that against me. I am so confused because shes great sometimes but other times shes horrid… What should I do???

She sounds very insecure. People who copy others struggle with their own identities copy others.

I suggest that you ignore it. Not easy, but giving her any sort of attention about the copying is just going to make it worse. Instead praise her about anything and everything that she does differently from you. Never say that she is worse that you at things, just keep on complimenting her on the good things that she does. That should hopefully get her to stop repeating everything you are doing.

shes simply scared and jealous of you and doesnt want you being in the spotlight at all. she wants you in her shadow.
