What's da reason?

Why are a lot of people using ‘da’ instead of the word ‘the’? Are they using it as ‘short for ‘the’? Is it supposed to be a ‘cool’ way of saying ‘the’? Is it because they’re lazy? Or are people forgetting how to spell?

on dictionary.com, some of the meanings are: *a mens hairstyle from the 50’s.

Its because half the people on here can’t type correctly and are too lazy to spell out the word ‘the’ and then get into the habit of typing like an idiot.
