What is the difference between crushes and love?

So, what is the difference between having a crush for a TERRIBLY LONG TIME, and actually being in love? Is love at first sight valid? Can you ever be truly in-love with someone you don’t know?

I don’t think you can ever be truly in love with someone you don’t know, that is more like an infatuation (lusting for someone). Really because you don’t know them so how can you be in love with them, when they could be totally different than you have pictured in your mind. I believe you can have feelings for someone you barely know, and for a really long time, because you long for what you can’t have. A crush is more like thinking someone is cute or fun to hang around…Love is something so unexplainable…I can tell you this though you will KNOW when you are in love…nothing else in the entire world will matter, and you just have this overpowering feeling of joy all the time, and butterfiles everytime you see that person no matter how long you have been dating…it’s an amazing feeling to be in love

Is too bad that the initial dream like state where you know the other person is your soulmate will eventually fade. I was there once, but lasted like 1 year then you get married and have a couple of kids and is gone. I am still married but that being in love phase has never returned. You are still in love but is different.
