What is everyones opinion on long engagement, but starting young?

Hiya everyone,

I was just curious, not looking to do it, but hypothetical language here,

If I were to propose to my girlfriend at 18 after going out for 1 year, what would you guys think as spectators/parents/friends. Im not looking to do this just randomly curious as she brought it up

The odds are against you my friend because at 18 you still have a lot to do in your life and with a wife by your side it is usually a little harder to get those things done which stress you both out cause you might have different life goals. I’m not saying break up with her at all but you have to realize you guys are still growing and you do not know exactly what you want out of life right now. I bet you guys are in love and everything but time changes everything and you should just take it slow until you have without a doubt. Your mind should tell you that, “This is right and I want to spend the rest of my life with this women. Not just through the good but through the worst that could possibly happen”. I mean would you leave her if she had cheated on you or started doing drugs? Everything will not always be peachy. It gets rough and hard but if you are going to do this it is a life-time thing. Whether you divorce or not, you will remember it always.

I dont see what the point would be.You cant keep them around by being engaged or married. If your relationship is meant to last then it will.
