What do I do to choose a correct major?

I am a freshman university student in my second semester as an accounting major. I don’t seem to be liking accounting and I know that I have a passion for other subjects like history, literature and biology. The problem is, accounting gives you a much better and brighter future than majoring in one of my “passions” because of better job opportunities worldwide and a great pay. If I major in history or literature or bio, I may not be able to find jobs in the west, for example, because some are biased and might not want Arabs to work with them for some reason. It’s harsh yet true in some cases. But everyone needs an accountant. I need to know whether I should finish accounting or switch to another major. I want the good life but I don’t want to be miserable.

Answer #2

Hmm, well, as you said, your major does open up many doors for the future. But I would honestly suggest picking a major you really want to be in. You said you like history, literature, and biology. You should definitely pick one of those! I want to be a writer (a novelist) and it’s a hard world when you want to sell a book because everyone does. But as a backup I’m studying graphic designing for websites and such. My passion won’t bring in a lot of money, but I’d rather be happy with my job than unhappy, doing the same thing everyday just to have more money. So I suggest you change your major to something you really, really want to do.
